THE PALACE OF THE LOST CITY - SUN CITY

The Lost City is a fantasy world with its origins in the traditions, legends and myths from Africa's distant past ... a spectacular palace rising from the lakes and rain forests of ancient Africa.

The Lost City covers 62 acres of fascinating jungle and cliff-tumbling gardens, sparkling streams, waterfalls and swimming pools, and al fresco entertainment areas. It includes the Valley of Waves, the only sub-tropical water-adventure park in Africa. The skyline is dominated by The Palace, with its 10 towers framed by faux elephant tusks. The Palace was famous in ancient times for its kingly hospitality, and the legend lives on today in a 338 room, supremely luxurious hotel.

Other stunning features include waterfalls, hidden streams and thrilling water slides which twist and turn down the hillside, launching bathers from elevated terraces to the pools some 25 metres below.

The architecture of the Palace at the Lost City is homage to both art and nature. From the majestic entrance with its mosaic marble floors, soaring columns and eighty feet high frescoed rotunda, to many intricate design accents taken directly from nature.

The accommodation at The Palace is splendid, with earthy colours and furnishings that reflect the natural riches of Africa. The accent is on variation, with three categories of suites and many different types of luxury rooms from which to choose.

Restaurants include the classically elegant Villa del Palazzo, which appears to float on a shimmering lake, and the spectacular Crystal Court, with its towering colonnades overlooking the lakes and tropical forests.

Outdoors, play golf on the superb "Million Dollar Challenge" Gary Player golf course. There are various watersports available, as well as tennis, squash, bowls and ten-pin bowling. Game viewing can be done in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
