Day 3: Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge/Tambo Yanayacu Lodge
Breakfast
Flora & Fauna Programme
Primary jungle reserve exploring in the YanayacuRiver ecosystem. Sail on the Amazon in an open boat to spot pink river dolphins, main characters of fantastic stories and legends from the Amazon miths. Arrival in the Huashalado village proceeding with a short walk to the YanayacuRiver, where another boat will be waiting to take you to our Tambo Yanayacu Lodge. As you sail, you will enter the "kingdom of the giant trees" so called because of the size some found species reach, among them the "lupuna" or ceiba tree. This is an ideal place for birds since the fish found in the river and the fruit from plants that grow on its edges are their main source of feeding; also, the thick forest offers the best possibilities for nestling. With a bit of luck, you may spot monkeys moving along the high tree tops or a sloth or "pelejo" hanging form a branch, mimetizing and thus making itself almost unseen.
Arrival in the Tambo Yanayacu Lodge.
Lunch.
Hike in jungle–trail or canoe ride –according to the season- through primary jungle in which you will observe the particularities of plants and trees from this ecosystem, just to mention the Victoria Regia, water lilac found in lakes or oxbows which reaches a 6–foot diameter. In this area it is also possible to see the "Hoatzin" or "Shansho", a particular bird with primitive features which feeds on tree leaves.
